Reebok is a little seaside village just outside Mossel Bay. It lies between Klein Brakrivier and Groot Brakrivier, one of a handful of beachside holiday hamlets east of Mossel Bay. Reebok is not what you would describe as pretty. It is not a fishermans village with quaint whitewashed cottages. Many of the homes are characterless face brick (less maintenance) affairs. In complete contrast, some are made from wood, and a couple is even painted in a style that evokes a beachside cottage rather than a flashy double-story by the sea. Historically Mossel Bay has functioned as a holiday town for inland farmers, and the tradition continues in places like Reebok, although if car number plates are anything to go by, visitors are from across the country. What makes Reebok attractive is that it rests perched on a hill above the sea, allowing for sea views all around; it enjoys an unhurried pace of living (there is only a Pick & Pay in Fraaiuitsig as a distraction); the sound of the sea as it breaks on the shore is unceasing, and the kilometers of unoccupied sandy beach is at once inviting and calming. Reeboks tidal pool is perfect for early morning swims and children, the beach, although not a swimming beach, is wonderful for walks and beachcombing, particularly given the numerous rock pools, and the wide pavement, edged with succulents, along the edge of the beach functions as a late afternoon promenade. Just west of Reebok is Klein Brakriviers beach and lagoon (good for swimming), and Mossel Bay is but 10 minutes away for restaurants, shopping malls, coffee shops, antique stores, historical buildings, walks and Cape St Blaize lighthouse.
